Title:
Personal Financial Counselor – Fort Meade, MD. Grade 24.
Work Experience:
Required.
- Provide personal financial services at assigned military installations.
- Deliver the full breadth of personal financial counseling services to service members and their families.
- Offer education and counseling on financial services, including one‑on‑one counseling, consultations with commanders, briefings, presentations, and referrals.
- Work closely with installation and military branch points of contact (POCs) to ensure program scope and alignment with installation needs.
- Assist service members in establishing a spending plan for extended absences.
- Develop and make available informational financial materials.
- Coordinate, publicize, and provide Personal Financial Management classes and workshops across the military lifecycle (e.g., arrival, pre‑ and post‑deployment, career events).
- Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
- Utilize virtual counseling or other electronic communication modes such as web‑based chat or video teleconference, as authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office.
- Manage duty‑to‑warn situations in accordance with DoD protocol.
- Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision, sharing information on trends and installation issues.
- Participate in regular in‑services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree required; alternatively, associate degree plus four years of experience or high school diploma plus six years of experience.
- Minimum of three years of financial counseling experience.
- U.S. citizen who speaks fluent English; if required by contract, bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Must obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
- Must pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
- Hold one of the following certifications:
Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).
Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500.
