Our work depends on a Research and Development Engineer joining our team to deliver innovative solutions and conduct comprehensive technology research to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems.
- Conduct software and systems engineering research to support the development of new cyberspace capabilities.
- Identify and analyze potential vulnerabilities in software, hardware, and firmware components.
- Perform threat modeling and risk assessments to uncover potential attack vectors and vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate the security posture of cyberspace systems, including network protocols, operating systems, and applications.
- Research and analyze emerging trends and technologies in cyberspace such as AI, ML, and IoT.
- Leverage cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and SIEM systems.
- Collaborate with MARFORCYBER teams to translate research findings into actionable recommendations and solutions.
- Drive innovation in cyberspace capabilities by developing prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred); additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
- 8+ years of experience in research and development, systems engineering, or cybersecurity fields.
- Experience in vulnerability analysis of software, hardware, and firmware.
- Knowledge of threat modeling methodologies and risk assessment frameworks.
- Proficiency with cybersecurity tools such as vulnerability scanners, penetration testing frameworks, and SIEM systems.
- Familiarity with operating systems, network protocols, and application-level security.
- Understanding of emerging technologies such as AI, ML, and IoT.
- TS/SCI (or eligible).
- Experience conducting advanced research projects in a government or defense setting.
- Knowledge of MARFORCYBER and USCYBERCOM missions.
- Familiarity with advanced modeling, simulation, and prototyping tools.
- On Customer Site – MARFORCYBER. (Hybrid/Remote may be considered with approval).

The likely salary range for this position is $212,500 - $287,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
