DevOps Engineer

Job Overview

Lockheed Martin’s Cyber & Intelligence team seeks a senior software engineer to lead the design, deployment, and operation of satellite communication systems. The role focuses on creating Dev Ops pipelines, managing Kubernetes clusters, configuring GPU resources, and ensuring high‑availability, secure, and scalable operations across the development lifecycle.

• Design, implement, and maintain Dev Ops pipelines for C++ or Python applications, leveraging Kubernetes/K8s, Helm charts, and pod definitions.
• Manage and configure Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and correct defects in existing software, using effective techniques to resolve issues efficiently.
• Configure and optimize GPU resources for performance‑critical applications (CUDA or similar technologies).
• Implement automated testing and deployment scripts with tools such as Jenkins or Git Lab CI/CD.
• Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams—including system architects and project managers—to meet user requirements and deliver on schedule.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation for software designs, processes, and interfaces to support knowledge sharing and project continuity.

• Bachelor’s degree in an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
• 20+ years of professional experience; expert authority in discipline.
• Capability to meet the GG Statement of Work Appendix B for the USG standard SWE labor category level 3.
• Security clearance and polygraph (TS/SCI w/Poly SP) required.

• • Kubernetes design, deployment, and lifecycle management—including Rancher/RKE2, control‑plane configuration, worker‑node management, scheduling, scaling, high‑availability settings, monitoring, networking, and storage classes.
• • Helm familiarity and CKA certification (plus).
• • Kubernetes application development and deployment principles.
• • CNCF projects & tools;
  Dev Ops principles;
  Git Ops, pipelines.
• • Networking fundamentals: switching, routing, VLANs.
• • Advanced Linux (RHEL/Rocky/EL9) OS configuration, troubleshooting, hardening, PXE boot.
• • Ansible playbook design, role development, collection management.
• • Development & scripting:
  Python, Bash, Go (desired), YAML/JSON manipulation, Git workflows.
• • Software testing: unit‑testing knowledge/experience.
• • Collaboration & communication: cross‑functional teamwork, stakeholder communication, presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
• • Domain knowledge: RF data‑processing and application development familiarity.
