Senior DevOps Engineer Security Clearance

Overview

The ideal candidate will have strong working knowledge in Kubernetes and Container Orchestration, Configuration Management, CI/CD, Automation, AWS, Linux system administration, Bash scripting, Python programming, and a background in Big Data solutions. The Dev Ops Engineer will implement infrastructure, automate deployment processes, and ensure monitoring, reliability, and scalability of our services. This role supports a customer onsite in Fort Meade, MD.

• Support development and deployment of cloud infrastructure in AWS, especially EKS.
• Support development and deployment of non-cloud (Edge) infrastructure on-premises and portable equipment.
• Automate deployment processes and ensure reliability and scalability of services.
• Manage and maintain Kubernetes containers and cloud infrastructure on AWS.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate their applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems and resolve issues as necessary.
• Continuously improve processes and tools to ensure high availability and performance.
• Stay current with new technologies and industry trends, continuously exploring new ways to improve our infrastructure.
• Transition between hands‑on execution and team guidance, mentoring and leadership as part of senior-level impact.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Current TS/SCI level U.S. Government Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• 9+ years of experience in Dev Ops Engineering or Software Development and a Bachelor’s in a related field; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Master’s in a related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, Lambda) and their application to deployment and management of infrastructure.
• Proficient in configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience with application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Comfortable in a terminal‑based environment.
• Proficient knowledge of Linux, including system administration and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites.
• Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams.
• Willing and able to help open/close the workspace during regular business hours as needed.
• Must be able to work on the customer site in Fort Meade, MD 5 days a week. Flexibility to accommodate schedule changes is required.

• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elastic Search, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, Presto, etc.

Estimated salary range: $156,000 to $202,000, varying by location, education, skills, experience, and contract-specific affordability. This estimate is part of the overall compensation package.
