Satellite Communications Network Engineer
A well‑designed network is critical to move data and enable organizations to achieve their missions. As a Satellite Communications Network Engineer, you will develop, test, modernize, and sustain secure and resilient network capabilities that support critical defense operations. You will use your skills in lab automation, network design, architecture, Layer2/3 technologies, and system interoperability to improve reliability, availability, and performance across mission‑focused environments.
Responsibilities• Design, implement, and maintain satellite communications (SATCOM) networks for the Department of Defense.
• Develop and manage lab automation solutions for testing, data management, and data analysis.
• Participate in implementation planning, technical reviews, test activities, and upgrades supporting enterprise‑wide modernization.
• Apply routing and switching, encryption gear integration, IP engineering, and virtual routing and forwarding to establish automation practices and procedures in a DoD lab environment.
- 2+ years of experience with network configuration, troubleshooting, or engineering support
- 2+ years of experience supporting engineering implementation planning, sustainment engineering, or technical reviews
- 2+ years of experience with routing and switching technologies and Layer2/3 network protocols
- 2+ years of experience developing and managing lab automation solutions for testing, data management, and data analysis
- 2+ years of experience developing repeatable test workflows
- Knowledge of network design and architecture, OSI model concepts, transport layers, and system interoperability
- Ability to interpret network diagrams, engineering documentation, and lab test outputs
- Knowledge of network security technologies and firewall implementations
- Knowledge of Python and its applicability to scripting, automation, data management and analysis, or visualization
- Secret clearance
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience conducting network health assessments or supporting modernization efforts
- 2+ years of experience with automation of network diagramming and writing and generating batch files
- 2+ years of experience generating mission packages through a satellite simulator
- 2+ years of experience with network modeling and simulation
- Knowledge of gateway protocols, virtual routing and forwarding, or optical networking
- Knowledge of mission‑aligned enterprise networking standards and emerging technologies
- Ability to identify improvements for network resiliency, capacity, or security
- Top Secret clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, IT, Cyber, or a related field
- CCNA, CCNP, Security+, or similar certification

Secret clearance is required.
The projected compensation range for this position is $99,000.00 to $ (annualized USD). The range reflects factors such as location, education, skills, and experience.
