It Cybersecurity Specialist; Plcypln​/Infosec

Position Summary:

This role is recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does not convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It is essential to support US Cyber Command mission and is located in the DISA - OC/COMPUTING ECOSYSTEMS - SEL.

• Planning and delivering IT services using advanced IT principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies throughout the agency.
• Applying project management principles and methods to measure performance and develop and monitor metrics for evaluating IT goals and objectives.
• Leading IT systems development projects from design to support using multiple IT disciplines and systems development principles. Advising customers on new developments and advanced technologies in information management and delivery.
• Providing technical support and guidance to staff on IT issues that involve IT management, typically at organization level or major components.

Basic Requirements at GG-12 level include the following competencies:

• Attention to Detail: experience reviewing own IT-related work or data and having been asked by others to review their work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.
• Customer Service: experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current IT needs, and developing or identifying IT products and services tailored to meet customer needs.
• Oral Communication: briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of IT systems, projects, or daily operations, including communicating technical information to a non-technical audience.
• Problem Solving: identifying alternatives to address complex IT-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience requires at least one year of experience demonstrating competencies necessary for immediate success, including:

• Planning and executing mission partner onboarding for IT service delivery.
• Providing technical support and guidance related to IT issues involving IT management.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and technologies.
• Experience in project management.

Volunteer experience in national service or related organizations is considered equivalent to paid experience.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
• Position may require access to classified information and requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
• This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140, subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements.
• Drug testing designated position.

• If the applicant is a current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, the appointment will be Excepted.
• A three-year trial period may be required if not previously completed.
• Telework availability will depend on mission requirements and supervisory determination.
• Individuals may be required to submit to drug testing before appointment.
• Relocation costs may be paid; certain reimbursements are taxable under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

• This position is a Financial Management Level 3 Certified position under DoD FM Certification Program.
