Job DescriptionL3 Harris Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced Technical Support Engineer to join our team in supporting the Wideband Satellite Communications Operations and Technical Support II (WSOTS II) Contract. This is a full-time on-site position.
Essential Functions- Provides SATCOM transmissions control and operations technical support and analysis services and technical assistance as needed to operations personnel to analyze SATCOM transmissions, configurations of SATCOM accesses, and link performance of these SATCOM accesses.
- Performs analysis and support of Operating Systems, application software, database applications, and network protocols.
- Coordinates with WSOMS sites for the scheduling of software upgrades and releases and confirms patches and fixes have been applied and implemented correctly.
- Recommends and implements engineering design changes required to adapt technical requirements.
- Performs on-site customer training to include interface with technical representatives. Performs OJT and informal training support as required.
- Performs daily review of audit, security, and application logs and identifies problem areas or trends, takes the proper action to remedy, and generates required reports.
- Maintains firewall rule sets and related parameters, IDS, reviews audit logs, and takes required corrective action when an intrusion is detected.
- Following reconfiguration, analyzes satellite and network performance to confirm the effectiveness of the reconfiguration and identify anomalies.
- Analyzes DSCS and WGS network configurations and link performance. Provides administration support to site SIPRNet and NIPRNet. Assists with primary troubleshooting and anomaly resolution for all mission systems within the WSOC’s shift work, providing 24/7/365 coverage.
- Establishes and maintains up-to-date cybersecurity configurations based on DISA STIGs and IAVM Notices.
- Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a WSOC.
- Minimum of 3 years of Military SATCOM experience, including experience with satellite transmission control and the ability to analyze SATCOM transmissions, accesses, and link performance.
- 3 years of experience in computer‑based satellite network control systems and IT, the use of IT tools for managing and troubleshooting complex computer networks, and management of WSOMS computer networks with skills particular to the administration of a Windows and AD domain environment.
- DoD 8570.01‑M IAT Level 2 certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, CCNA Security, CND).
- Experience in the use of Information Technology (IT) tools.
- Ability to plan, implement, verify, and troubleshoot local and wide‑area enterprise networks.
- Experience in network troubleshooting skills (Cisco IOS, IP routing, EIGRP).
- Experience implementing patches, scanning, remediate findings, and auditing; working knowledge of RMF and cybersecurity requirements.
