Hardware Technician - Level 1 (Voice IT Field Support Specialist)

Stratum Networks is a rapidly growing information assurance and cybersecurity solutions company that provides high‑end network and security consulting to Department of Defense and Intelligence Community clients. We are seeking a Level 1 Hardware Technician to support a client located in the Annapolis Junction, MD area.
Responsibilities- Conduct site surveys; assess and document current site configuration and user requirements.
- Analyze existing requirements and prepare specifications for hardware acquisitions.
- Develop hardware installation schedules.
- Prepare drawings documenting configuration changes at each site.
- Prepare site installation plans.
- Configure computers, communications devices and peripheral equipment.
- Train site personnel in proper use of hardware.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and test computer workstations, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment.
- Install and configure computer workstations, printers, peripherals, and teleconferencing equipment, including associated cabling.
- Maintain government and/or vendor‑manufactured fiber optic/Ethernet cables & telephone systems.
Required clearance:
Active TS/SCI with polygraph. Candidates must also have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Minimum education:
High school or GED. - 0 to 2 years of experience, or an AA/BS in a technical field as a substitute.
- 8570 Certification;
Security+ preferred. - Highly skilled in installing, repairing, and troubleshooting computer hardware and peripherals.
- Experience with Windows installation, software, applications, antivirus, and patches.
- Strong ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Effective time and priority management.
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and remotely with end‑users.
- Familiarity with Active Directory security policies.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Availability to work an 8‑hour shift between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. as determined by management.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and may be required to drive a company vehicle. Typical duties involve significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; and periodic work in tight areas.
Salary & BenefitsSalary range: $31,000 – $71,000, depending on experience and contract. Benefits include up to 3 weeks paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, health care (single and family) immediately, and a 401(k) plan with employer match.
