Position: IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

Summary

You will serve as a Cyberspace Data Engineer responsible for providing technical guidance and operational advice to the assigned Cyber Protection Team (CPT) in support of Navy Defensive Computer Operations (DCO). You will specialize in collecting and querying data from various systems and sources. This position is located at CWG-SIX in Fort Meade, Maryland.

Duties
  • You will provide critical support to the Defensive Computer Operations (DCO) hunt mission facilitating and enabling data analytics
  • You will analyze and design data resources including data modeling and requirements, identification, and data flow diagramming.
  • You will manage the compilation, cataloging, caching, distribution, and retrieval of data.
  • You will perform backup and recovery of databases to ensure data integrity.
  • You will effectively allocate storage capacity in the design of data management systems.
  • You will assist in turning data from sensors into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound defensive cyber operation (DCO) decisions.
  • You will utilize different programming languages to write code, open and read files, and write output to different files.
Requirements Conditions of employment

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You must obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance and access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of an offer or removal. Indicate the level and date of your clearance in your resume.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You must acknowledge in writing that you are accepting an appointment in the DCIPS (excepted service) which does not confer competitive status, prior to appointment.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • All Defense Intelligence positions under the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS) are in the excepted service by specific statute, 10 U.S.C. 1601. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
  • This position requires a periodic polygraph examination.
  • This position may require a two-year DCIPS trial period requirement.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • Work outside of traditional working hours (Mon-Fri ) may be required.
  • You must meet qualification requirements of the specialty area assigned as delineated in Appendix 4 of SECNAV M-5239.2; see Additional Information Section.

You must have one year of information technology related experience in the federal service or private or public sector demonstrating the following four competencies, as defined:
