Apex Systems is seeking a Sr. Systems Administrator to join one of our government clients in Ft. Meade, MD.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join a small, collaborative team supporting enterprise server and virtual infrastructure environments. This role serves as a senior technical resource responsible for Tier II/III support, system configuration, upgrades, maintenance, and complex break-fix activities across Windows, Linux, and Solaris environments.

• Serve as a Tier II/III escalation point for major incidents, outages, and complex technical issues.
• Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise server environments.
• Perform system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and break-fix activities.
• Support and manage Windows, Linux, and Solaris server environments, with primary emphasis on Linux administration.
• Maintain and support virtualized infrastructure and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
• Create, maintain, and improve technical documentation, knowledge articles, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Review technical work performed by junior team members and provide coaching and mentorship.
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, system stability, and support processes.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and cybersecurity teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
• Participate in problem management and root cause analysis efforts for recurring incidents.

• 8+ years of overall experience and a Bachelors degree. Other level of degrees will be accepted with correlating years of experience.
• Sec+ certification or other DoD 8140 certification
• Strong experience administering Linux servers.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server environments.
• Experience working in virtualized environments.
• Proven ability to create and maintain technical documentation and SOPs.

Location:

Ft. Meade, MD

Clearance Level: Top Secret or TS/SCI in the last 2 years

Salary/Pay range: $60-65/hr

Schedule:

5:00am-1:00pm
