Compensation: $195,000–$230,000, depending on experience

We are seeking a talented and driven Cloud Software Engineer III to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of complex, mission-focused software systems. This role will contribute to applications involving high-performance analytics, advanced algorithm development, large-scale data processing, real-time computing, and enterprise business solutions.

The ideal candidate brings strong software engineering experience, a background in cloud and distributed computing technologies, and the ability to develop scalable solutions for large operational data environments.

• Provide cloud software research, development, and engineering support across requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, sustainment, testing, validation, and issue resolution.
• Design, implement, and test new capabilities for Apache Accumulo to support large-scale content and metadata repositories.
• Conduct Apache Accumulo training sessions, including hands-on configuration and programming exercises.
• Develop web-based user interfaces for searching and presenting operational data.
• Develop web services and REST-based APIs for content and metadata repositories.
• Design and implement algorithms that operate on large volumes of operational metadata.
• Apply advanced parallel programming techniques to analytics running against petabyte-scale datasets.
• Develop, test, and prepare mission-relevant analytics for deployment in secure content and metadata repositories.

• Ability and willingness to work onsite five days per week.
• Within the last 10 years, at least 7 years of combined programming experience using Java, C++, or Python.
• Within the last 7 years, at least 5 years of experience designing and developing applications in Windows or UNIX/Linux environments.
• Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with database technologies such as:
  • Apache Accumulo
  • MongoDB
  • ScyllaDB
  • Google Cloud Bigtable
  • Amazon DynamoDB
  • Azure Cosmos DB
  • PostgreSQL
  • or equivalent technologies
• Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with distributed batch or stream processing technologies such as:
  • Ray
  • Apache Spark
  • Apache Flink
  • Apache Beam
  • Databricks
  • cloud-native data processing services
• Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with distributed file or object storage systems such as:
  • HDFS
  • Amazon S3
  • Azure Data Lake Storage
  • Google Cloud Storage
• Within the last 3 years, at least 1 year of experience with requirements analysis and design for object-oriented systems.
• Within the last 2 years, at least 6 months of development experience using Kubernetes, AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.

Education substitutions may include:

• Associate’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline plus 2 years of programming experience, or
• 5 years of programming experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
