Principal Software Engineer

About the Role You will work in a lab environment developing and integrating prototype applications that solve real problems for analyst teams. This role involves hands-on engineering across the full stack - from cloud integrations to machine learning pipelines - with direct collaboration with customers and data scientists to gather requirements and deliver working solutions.

• Design and develop prototype applications for technical evaluation and integration into enterprise environments
• Integrate with cloud-based data systems and extend existing enterprise services
• Evaluate and incorporate open source technologies, emerging tools, and new commercial software
• Support analytics and machine learning development efforts
• Work directly with customers, developers, and data scientists to gather requirements and incorporate feedback
• Install, configure, and test prototype solutions in a lab environment
• Develop and deploy commercial cloud solutions supporting analytical workflows

• Strong development experience in Java and/or Python
• Experience integrating applications with cloud-based data systems
• Hands-on experience installing, configuring, and deploying prototype software
• Familiarity with open source technologies and COTS evaluation
