Responsibilities
- Receives, examines and determines the condition and disposition of a wide variety of materials.
- Reviews disposal turn‑in document accompanying material. Compares data against property assuring correct information and proper documentation (e.g. stock number, nomenclature, quantity, unit of issue, disposal authority code, DEMIL, condition code).
- Visually inspects usable property for obvious signs of condition and determines acceptability.
- Determines condition and reportability and special handling requirements (e.g., hazardous material, precious metals, security, DEMIL, special focus items, etc.) and assigns appropriate classification instructions for warehousing.
- Verifies accuracy of demilitarization codes, takes action to challenge questionable items/codes, and maintains segregated storage of property requiring DEMIL.
- Ensures proper certification is attached to turn‑in document when demilitarized by host or generating activity.
- Performs special and periodic inventory of property; re‑palletizes/re‑locates property as necessary.
- Operates forklifts and related materials handling equipment to move, load and unload, stack or un‑stack palletized materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Tour of Duty: 1st Shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM).

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standard for Trades and Labor Occupations. Though a specific length of time and experience is not required, you must meet any screen‑out element listed and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties at the level for which you are applying.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is:
Ability to do the work of a Materials Examiner and Identifier without more than normal supervision. Perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision and receive general guidance on assignments such as loading and handling material and how items are to be received and identified.
Experience may include paid, unpaid, volunteer work, including National Service programs such as Peace Corps and Ameri Corps.
Physical Effort:
Climb stacks of property during inspection, pre‑receiving and receiving and verification operations, necessitating considerable kneeling, crawling, bending, walking and stooping. Incumbent must be able to lift property weighing up to 50 pounds and shift/relocate other heavy materials using appropriate material handling equipment.
Working Conditions:
Inside and outside work, warehouses may be drafty or unheated, outside may be inclement weather. Protective clothing, respirators, goggles or face masks may be required. Possible exposure to hazardous vapors, liquids, powders, solids, cuts and bruises. Hazards of moving equipment such as forklifts, trucks, conveyor lines.
Safety and Health Responsibilities:
Adhere to all safety standards, rules, regulations, procedures, and use personal protective equipment as required. Report all occupational mishaps, illnesses, and injuries promptly. Report and correct unsafe conditions to supervisor. May be required to participate in a medical surveillance program. Work with materials or wastes that may exhibit hazardous properties requires federal, state, and installation training.
