AP Staff Accountant

Description We are looking for an AP Staff Accountant to join a growing team in Fort Mill, South Carolina. This position focuses on managing day-to-day accounts payable activities with accuracy and strong attention to detail, while supporting efficient financial operations in a construction-related environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable handling invoice review, payment processing, and project-based cost tracking in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities:

- Review, classify, and enter vendor invoices to ensure charges are recorded accurately and aligned with the appropriate accounts and projects.

- Manage the full invoice workflow from receipt through approval, resolving discrepancies and following up on missing or incomplete documentation.

- Prepare and process regular payment runs, including checks, while maintaining compliance with internal controls and payment deadlines.

- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding items to keep account balances current and accurate.

- Support project accounting activities by assigning costs correctly and helping maintain reliable job-related financial records.

- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to answer payment questions and address invoice issues in a timely manner.

- Maintain organized accounts payable files and documentation to support audits, reporting needs, and month-end close activities. Requirements - Experience performing accounts payable duties in an accounting or finance environment that requires strong attention to detail.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing procedures.

- Ability to handle check runs with a high level of accuracy and attention to deadlines.

- Familiarity with reconciling vendor accounts and resolving billing discrepancies.

- Background in the construction industry is strongly preferred.

- Understanding of project accounting concepts and cost allocation practices.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
