- Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Produce accurate quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and complete bid packages.
- Use estimating software and spreadsheets to assemble estimates.
- Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to clarify details.
- Assist with cost comparisons, proposal adjustments, and value engineering opportunities.
- Help ensure smooth project execution by coordinating estimating data with project management and field personnel.
- Assist with preparation and development of cost estimates for commercial landscape construction projects.
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents.
- Perform material, equipment, and labor takeoffs for landscape elements (hardscape, softscape, irrigation, drainage, etc.).
- Input data and generate detailed proposals using spreadsheets and estimating software.
- Solicit and organize vendor and subcontractor pricing.
- Maintain bid calendars and tracking systems.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Strong computer literacy and comfort with technology.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data organization).
- Experience with estimating software is a Plus…, plan review tools, and digital takeoff platforms (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, Pro Est, Sage, LMN, or ability to learn).
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Preferred: internship or prior experience in construction or landscape estimating.
