We are looking for an experienced commercial construction estimator. Please do not apply if you do not have experience estimating in the commercial construction field! We are a small general contracting company who needs an estimator who is a self-starter and can come in strong to help our company put together comprehensive bids for potential clients and potential projects. We are a very fast paced and fast-growing company so we need someone who fits these values.

We need someone who likes to work hard and is VERY results driven. We would love someone with some leadership/management experience as there is someone else in this department who needs some coaching. This is not a priority but would be an opportunity for anyone looking to grow within a company. We will consider estimators from subcontracting companies especially if you have experience with multiple trades.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and project scope.
  • Utilize estimating software such as Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, Building Connected and similar programs to develop accurate budgets and proposals.
  • Conduct thorough market research to establish reliable pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors to secure optimal terms that align with project budgets.
  • Collaborate with project managers and construction teams to ensure estimates reflect current site conditions and project requirements.
  • Monitor cost control throughout the project lifecycle by tracking expenditures and adjusting estimates as needed.
  • Assist in bid preparation, proposal submission, and contract review processes to support winning new business opportunities.
  • More responsibilities as needed.
Skills
  • Proficiency in construction estimating tools such as Building Connected and Bluebeam is mandatory. We will not consider anyone who has not done this in prior roles.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, site management, and contract administration within commercial projects.
  • Extensive experience in reading ground up and upfit construction plans.
  • Experience with cost control measures to manage budgets effectively from inception through completion.
  • Knowledge of pricing strategies for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services in the construction industry.
  • Hands-on construction site experience that provides insight into real-world project challenges that stem from estimation.
  • Excellent people skills and problem solving skills are a must.
