Lesson Program Lead

Under limited supervision, the Lesson Program Lead supports the daily operations, organization, and success of the equestrian lesson program. This role serves as a working lead, assisting with teaching lessons, lesson scheduling, instructor and lesson assistant coordination, student communication, and overall program administration while helping ensure a safe, professional, and positive experience for participants, families, horses, and staff. The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, knowledgeable in equestrian programming, and comfortable taking initiative to support instructors, students, and program operations.

Key functions include:

  • Teach safe and successful riding and horsemanship lessons to students with a variety of age and skill levels
  • Assist in coordinating lesson schedules for instructors, lesson assistants, students, and horses.
  • Serve as the designated person responsible for filling instructor and lesson assistant shifts as needed
  • Assist with student scheduling changes and lesson placement
  • Maintain accurate records including waiver tracking and student/parent information spreadsheets
  • Ensure consistency and quality in lesson program operations
  • Serve as a point of contact for instructors and lesson assistants during assigned shifts
  • Help coordinate daily lesson activities to ensure efficient program operations
  • Support onboarding and training of new instructors and lesson assistants, modeling proper procedures and safety practices
  • Monitor lesson quality and provide feedback to staff to maintain consistency and a positive participant experience
  • Assist with planning and execution of camps, clinics, horse shows, demonstrations, and special events
  • Ensure lesson areas, tack rooms, arenas, and program spaces remain organized, safe, and presentable
  • Assess situations and take appropriate action, escalating concerns to leadership as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Knowledge of equestrian lesson program operations
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with students, families, volunteers, and staff
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain calm and professional while resolving scheduling conflicts or participant concerns
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Degree in equestrian management preferred or other relevant field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training; will train
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

Physical requirements include:

  • Endurance-related physical requirements including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, and extensive horse riding
  • Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and activities
  • Normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate participant activities/programs
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50lbs
  • Exposure to inconsistent weather conditions such as sun, heat, or rain and animals such as bugs and snakes, etc.
