We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Commercial Tire Performance Benchmark Engineer to join our R&D team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and analyzing tire wear benchmarking programs for commercial truck tires. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate competitor products, support product development, and provide data-driven insights to enhance tire wear & durability performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and manage benchmarking programs to evaluate the wear performance of commercial truck tires in various applications across North America.
  • Conduct field evaluations, including fleet testing and controlled wear tests, to gather real-world performance data.
  • Analyze tire wear patterns, rates, and failure modes using statistical tools and physical inspections.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of competitor tire performance metrics.
  • Coordinate with Product Management, Technical Customer Service and Field Intelligence to prioritize target competitor products
  • Close collaboration with central benchmark team including field surveillance of new competitor products, joint reports and local coordination of tire procurement
  • Locate and develop testing relationships with a broad range of commercial fleet customers and salespeople
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal stakeholders including R&D and the Business Area.
  • Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and competitor activities in the commercial tire market.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to translate benchmarking insights into actionable design improvements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in tire engineering, tire testing, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of tire construction, wear mechanisms, and performance metrics.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, Python, or similar).
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel for field testing and fleet evaluations. (50%)

Additional Ways to Stand Out
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience with Commercial Truck Tires
  • Experience with tire wear modeling or simulation tools.
  • Familiarity with tire regulatory standards and industry testing protocols (e.g., SAE, ISO).
  • Hands‑on experience with tire dissection and forensic analysis.
