Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
- Dusting and sanitizing:
Wipe down all surfaces, including desks, tables, ledges, and windowsills. - Special attention to sanitizing high-touch surfaces such as door handles, light switches, and shared office equipment.
- Waste management:
Empty all trash and recycling bins, replace liners, and transport waste to the designated disposal area. - Floor care:
Vacuum all carpeted areas daily, including under desks and chairs; sweep and mop hard floors, especially in high-traffic zones like entryways. - Glass cleaning:
Clean and polish interior glass partitions, doors, and mirrors to remove fingerprints and smudges. - Break rooms and kitchens:
Wipe down the exterior of all appliances, including the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker; empty and wipe the inside of the microwaves. - Countertops and sinks:
Disinfect countertops, tables, chairs, and sanitize the sink and faucet. - Deep cleaning (weekly):
Clean the inside of the refrigerator, discarding old food, and spot clean cabinet fronts. - Restrooms:
Clean and thoroughly disinfect toilets, urinals, sinks, and countertops; replenish all paper products and soap dispensers; wipe down and sanitize bathroom partitions, door handles, and all fixtures; sweep and mop floors with disinfectants, paying special attention to grout lines. - Additional tasks:
Ensure doors and windows are securely locked, report security concerns to management; monitor cleaning supplies and report low inventory; report potential maintenance issues such as leaky faucets, clogged drains, or burned-out light bulbs; adhere to safety protocols regarding cleaning chemicals, equipment, PPE, and report spills or hazards promptly.
Qualifications and Skills
- Previous experience in a cleaning, janitorial, or similar role is required.
- Trustworthy and professional, with the ability to work in private office spaces.
- Knowledge of professional cleaning products, equipment, and methods.
- Attention to detail to ensure thorough cleaning and sanitization.
- Strong time management to prioritize and complete tasks efficiently within a set schedule.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25–50 pounds for extended periods.
- Dependable, punctual, and with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while staying on task.
- Good communication skills to understand instructions and report issues.
- Teamwork skills for collaborative assignments.
Work Environment
- Flexible schedule; work may occur during or outside normal business hours to minimize disruption to office staff.
- Work may be physically demanding and involve handling cleaning chemicals.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided.
- Exposure to light manufacturing conditions and varying temperatures.
