Position Summary:The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and continuously improving manufacturing equipment and facility systems in a food production environment. This position ensures that production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards. The technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime and support production goals.
Description of Duties:- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation systems.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement timely corrective actions.
- Install, modify, and maintain production equipment and support systems.
- Perform equipment changeovers and line setup adjustments as required.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair motors, drives, sensors, controls, conveyors, and PLC‑controlled equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Assist with troubleshooting automated systems and production controls.
- Maintain facility systems including HVAC, compressed air, refrigeration, steam, water, and wastewater systems.
- Conduct building repairs and upkeep to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
- Monitor utility systems and report deficiencies.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HACCP requirements, and food safety standards.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and company policies as applicable.
- Use food‑grade lubricants, tools, and maintenance procedures where required.
- Participate in internal and external audits and support corrective actions.
- Complete maintenance work orders accurately and in a timely manner within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Document repairs, inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and parts usage.
- Communicate equipment issues and repair status with production and management teams.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical degree, vocational training, or apprenticeship in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food manufacturing experience preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience with CMMS systems.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience with PLC troubleshooting and automation systems.
- Knowledge of food processing equipment such as conveyors, mixers, fillers, packaging equipment, ovens, or refrigeration systems.
