The Kayak Attendant operates kayak rentals on the weekends and holidays. Must have excellent people skills and be comfortable in and around water. Kayak attendants will help guests get outfitted safely for kayaking and help guests in and out of their kayaks. The attendant will also handle guest check-in and care for equipment. Previous kayak experience is not required but is preferred.
The 2026 Kayak Rental season will start on April 17th and conclude on September 27th. Training will take place prior to the start of the season and be scheduled based on staff availability.
KEY FUNCTIONS
- Assist them in wearing an appropriately fitted PFD, getting in/out of kayak and giving basic paddling advice (training provided)
- Must participate in water rescue training; comfortable executing maneuvers to help get a person out of the water
- Communicates and enforces waterfront rules and regulations to participants, members, and guests.
- Cares diligently for the equipment, making sure it is put away tidily and carefully and reports any repairs needed
- Attends scheduled staff meetings and trainings
- Adheres to all Company policies, procedures and standards set by the Company
- Other opportunities may arise to earn extra hours in our Outdoor Programs department
- Other duties as assigned

- Must be at least 16 years of age
- First aid/CPR and lifeguard certifications preferred, will train
- Must be available weekends and holidays
- Must participate in water rescue training; comfortable executing maneuvers to help get a person out of the water
- Strong swimming skills are encouraged but not required
No supervisory responsibilities
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects when needed. Must be able to lift a kayak to chest height and place on rack. Physical demands are mostly on foot; must be able to remain on feet for extended periods. Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
