Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Services Manager to join a growing accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with public accounting or Client Accounting Services (CAS) experience who can lead client accounting engagements, review staff work, clean up complex accounting records, and support the continued growth of the accounting services department.
This is not a basic bookkeeping position. The ideal candidate will be hands‑on, capable of solving complex accounting issues, mentoring staff, improving processes, and delivering accurate, tax‑ready financial information.

- Evaluate opportunities to improve accounting services through technology, automation, workflows, and AI-enabled tools.
- Develop and implement standardized accounting procedures, checklists, work papers, and documentation.
- Delegate work effectively while mentoring and developing accounting staff.
- Train, review, and support team members performing bookkeeping and accounting functions.
- Lead recurring client accounting engagements and complex accounting cleanup projects.
- Diagnose and resolve accounting discrepancies rather than simply identifying variances.
- Reconstruct incomplete or inaccurate accounting records using bank statements, payroll records, tax returns, loan documents, and supporting documentation.
- Bring disorganized financial records to a reconciled, tax-ready state.
- Review general ledgers, reconciliations, and financial statements for accuracy.
- Prepare or review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting work papers.
- Resolve issues related to bank reconciliations, credit cards, loans, fixed assets, payroll liabilities, accounts payable, accounts receivable, equity, and prior-period transactions.
- Coordinate with the tax team to ensure financial records are complete and ready for tax preparation.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding missing information, accounting issues, and process improvements.
- Manage accounting cleanup engagements, including tracking project scope, time, and billing.
- 5+ years of public accounting, bookkeeping, controllership, or Client Accounting Services (CAS) experience.
- Public accounting experience is required.
- Experience with Quick Books Online, Quick Books Desktop, Xero, Sage, or similar accounting software.
- Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Experience cleaning up and reconciling incomplete or inaccurate accounting records.
- Experience reviewing the work of accountants or bookkeepers and providing guidance.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with small and closely held businesses is preferred.
- Experience implementing accounting software, automation tools, and workflow improvements is preferred.

Preferred Experience- 5+ years of public accounting experience.

- Experience reviewing staff work, managing accounting projects, and training team members.
- Experience implementing accounting software and improving accounting workflows.
