A well-established, fast-paced food manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Safety Coordinator to champion workplace safety, protect employees, and drive a strong culture of compliance and risk prevention. This is a direct-hire, permanent opportunity for a safety professional who thrives in hands-on environments and enjoys being visible on the floor while partnering with leadership to continuously improve safety standards .
Hours & Pay
This is a day shift position offering $26-$30 per hour , based on experience.
What You'll Do Each Day
- Conduct daily safety walks, plant walkthroughs (GEMBA), audits, and PPE compliance spot checks
- Serve as first responder for workplace injuries, accidents, and medical incidents
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and recordable/non-recordable injuries and support prevention strategies
- Deliver safety training and refreshers, including onboarding and ongoing programs
- Maintain OSHA compliance, safety documentation, and confidential medical records
- Act as point of contact for plant security and local safety committee initiatives
- Partner closely with HR, supervisors, and the corporate safety team to align safety efforts
- Monitor GMP compliance and enforce all safety rules, procedures, and policies
- Support workers' compensation reporting, tracking, and follow-up
- Assist with plant training coordination, tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Spend approximately 50% of the day on the production floor and 50% in an office setting
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a safety-related role within manufacturing or warehouse environments
- Working knowledge of OSHA, GMPs, and environmental compliance standards
- Ability to maintain First Aid, CPR, BBP, AED , and OSHA 30-hour certifications
- Forklift experience; prior forklift trainer certification is a strong plus
- Strong accident investigation, risk reduction, and safety training skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in cold environments (approximately 35°F) for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- High integrity, strong communication skills, and the confidence to influence safety behaviors at all levels
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus
