Mortgage Quality Control Manager - Builder-Focused Lending
Tired of overseeing reactive quality control, rushed reviews, and recurring audit issues? First Equity Mortgage is hiring a Quality Control Manager to oversee a well‑defined QC program within a stable, purchase‑focused lending operation. With consistent builder‑driven volume and leadership committed to clean, compliant files, this role is ideal for a QC leader who prefers structure, clarity, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will lead the company’s QC program to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, investor guidelines, and licensing requirements. You will oversee QC staff, manage pre‑and post‑closing reviews, oversee the vendor management effort, and drive training initiatives to reduce risk and improve loan quality.
- Supervise Quality Control staff and ensure timely file reviews prior to closing
- Review loan files for compliance with underwriting, investor, and regulatory guidelines
- Ensure disclosures are issued within required timelines
- Track, log, and communicate loan errors in Encompass LOS
- Prepare weekly and monthly QC reports for leadership
- Manage external QC vendor audits and analyze defect trends
- Oversee NMLS licensing, continuing education, and company renewals
- Maintain company policies and support regulatory training programs
- Oversee appraisal management via Mercury Network
- Serve as a MERS Signing Officer and manage related requirements
- File required Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs)
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 7–10 years of mortgage industry experience (QC, underwriting, compliance, or audit)
- Extensive knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, and TRID
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, trend analysis)
- Proficiency with Encompass LOS
- Strong attention to detail, judgment, and regulatory mindset
- Must be able to work full time in our Fort Mitchell, KY Office.
- QC management or audit leadership experience
- Professional certifications (CMCP, DE Underwriter, SAR, or similar)
- Experience with external QC vendors, Mercury Network, and MERS
