Staff Accountant
The position of Staff Accountant is responsible for the oversight of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions of the College by providing training and administrative leadership to each of these functional areas as needed. This position provides professional support to the Controller with recording, analyzing, reconciling, and maintenance of all financial records of the institution, including grant monitoring and reporting as well as financial statement preparation.
The position also performs professional level accounting functions including but not limited to researching errors and complex problem resolution. In addition, this position works with college personnel and external parties on new projects and activities and is responsible for establishing processes, procedures, and maintaining internal controls in compliance with GAAP, CCCS, and State policies. The Staff Accountant shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the value of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, experience interpreting and implementing policies and procedures, ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize duties with attention to detail, proficiency in MS Office suite, intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, excellent oral and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, strong time management and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal relations/communication skills, and the ability to work occasional long and irregular hours necessitated by college events, special projects, compliance with deadlines, length of institutional day and week, and committee service.
Ability to travel as necessary to attend conferences, training, and additional duties as needed on a limited basis.
Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in accounting or a related field, prior work in higher education accounting and/or State of Colorado or local government, grant accounting experience, experience with Banner system, and experience with CORE system.
Anticipated start date is June 2026. Salary and benefits range from $57,000 to $64,000 based on education, skills, and experience. Candidates with a Master's degree may receive an extra $3,300 base increase. Benefits include health, life, dental and vision insurance, LTD & benefit package including tuition reimbursement in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.
