Maintenance Technician for Solar Monitoring System in Morgan County, CO - Training Provided (2-4 hours a week)

Part-time. Compensation: USD 50 - USD 50 hourly.

While the Maintenance Technician position is temporary, you'll be hired as a UL-employee (W-2) with payroll management with our trusted partner, Cypress HCM. We very much look forward to working with you!

UL Solutions will be installing a solar monitoring system (SMS) near Fort Morgan, Morgan County, CO on behalf of one of our Clients. The station (roughly 25x25 footprint) consists of a few solar panels, two 7-foot tripods, and scientific measurement equipment surrounded by a locked chain link fence. The station will monitor the solar resource as well as other meteorological and weather-related parameters.

• Uphold highest level of communication as first point of contact for equipment in the field
• Ensure all equipment is level & clean on a weekly basis
• Provide troubleshooting and support from UL Solutions, and when requested, repair low‑medium complexity issues
• Ensure there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on site/region, grass cutting, snow removal, or clearing brush)
• Confirm the system is secure and hasn’t been tampered with
• Complete a weekly excel logbook uploaded via internet along with photos and other documentation (45‑90 minutes)
• Meet weekly maintenance visits (60‑90 minutes each) on the same day each week during daylight hours for a minimum of 1 year and maximum of 2 years

• Must be able to take instruction remotely throughout the length of the contract term
• Must use own transportation to and from remote SMS location (4WD/AWD preferred)
• Willing/able to walk to and from site, typically no more than ¼ mile in one direction
• Must own or have access to gas or battery-operated weed whacker for occasional grass management (additional compensation will be provided)
• Required to climb and work comfortably from a 6 or 8‑foot ladder (provided)
• Required maintenance of equipment utilizing levels, screwdriver, and other hand tools (provided)
• Must have demonstrated computer literacy, including ability to upload attachments with own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to our SharePoint website with reliable internet
• A smart phone is required to take site photos and to communicate with UL Solutions' staff while on site in case of an emergency, etc. A desktop computer, laptop or tablet with internet capability is required for uploading maintenance photos and updating excel maintenance logbook
• Required to treat all applicable information as confidential

$150 per visit, plus additional compensation for occasional grass management.

Training will be provided remotely via phone and video, with potential onsite training when possible. No solar experience is required.
