Senior Accountant (Inventory Control)
Responsibilities

  • The Senior Accountant of Inventory Control is primarily responsible for the accounting accuracy of Inventory Merchandise within the Company’s financial statements as well as the preparation of various schedules, reconciliations, and account variance analyses relating to the monthly closing process.
  • Responsible for the monthly account analysis, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation for Inventory Related Accounts.
  • Responsible for the development, analysis, and distribution of inventory reports and communications to management of inventory related financial and operational trends.
  • Responsible for balancing inventory activity between systems and resolving unit/dollar variances between systems (SAP, WMS, ATG, JDA).
  • Work closely with Technology and Operation teams to develop a comprehensive understanding and documentation of all inventory related systems, process flow, and operating procedures.
  • Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of inventory related accounting.
  • Support Accounting/Finance Department’s goals through assisting in monthly variance analysis, external audit analysis, and special projects.
  • Assist in designing and implementing stronger internal controls, SOX compliance, documentation development, and improving organization of inventory processing and reporting.
  • Assist in improving the overall quality and efficiency of inventory processes and system flow.
  • Critically analyze existing processes to identify and implement incremental improvements.
  • Maintain well‑organized, auditable records of analysis, reports, and inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with special projects within the inventory control and finance area, including reporting, new business processes, and inventory studies.
  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with other departments to facilitate information sharing and adjust to business changes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business‑related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years business‑related experience in a retail organization preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel spreadsheet skills and ability to work with large amounts of data and system interface files.
  • Proven analytical and problem‑solving skills, including issue identification and resolution.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter.
  • SAP and BI experience preferred.
  • Ability to accept and adapt to a fast‑paced, changing environment.

This position works on‑site at least 4 days per week consistent with the needs of the business at our Chico’s FAS office location in Ft Myers, FL.
