The Archives Coordinator supports, facilitates, and promotes the materials, activities, and goals of the University Archives and Special Collections.

Job Description Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates collections care activities, including updating, organizing, maintaining, and providing access to physical and digital collections.
  • Assists with curatorial research and coordinates the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and displays.
  • Coordinates and prepares materials for exhibitions, displays, and external loans.
  • Provides reference services, research assistance, and tours to facilitate user access and use of UASC collections and resources.
  • Supports and coordinates instruction sessions and community engagement activities.
  • Maintains the UASC website and archival content management systems to promote and provide access to UASC resources for students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Oversees, plans, coordinates, and evaluates departmental events and programs.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports assessment data to support departmental planning and continuous improvement.
  • May hire, train, and/or supervise interns and/or OPS and student staff.
  • Coordinates departmental technology, equipment and supply needs to support daily operations.
  • Participates on committees, working groups, and outreach initiatives on behalf of the department as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either four years of directly related full-time experience or, as alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.
  • Relevant experience related to the job functions.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Archival, public history, or museum experience.
  • Project/office management, event coordination, or community engagement experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Acrobat, etc.)
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Proven ability to think strategically and approach challenges with creativity.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, and holding oneself accountable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively across teams.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to the position.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain library policies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide professional service.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends as necessary.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials that weigh at least 30 pounds.
