Role Description
The Takeoff Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Ft Myers, FL. This role is responsible for reviewing construction plans, specifications, and bid documents to accurately quantify materials, labor, and equipment required for commercial site work projects. Day-to-day tasks include performing detailed digital takeoffs, preparing quantity summaries, and assisting estimators with cost analysis and bid preparation. The Takeoff Technician will coordinate with estimators, and field teams to clarify project scope, verify site conditions, and update quantities as designs change.
The role also involves organizing and maintaining takeoff records, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data, and supporting continuous improvement of estimating templates, standards, and workflows.
- Experience with construction plan reading and quantity takeoffs for civil/site work, utilities, earthwork, and related scopes.
- Familiarity with digital takeoff and estimating software (e.g., B2W, Agtek, Bluebeam, or similar tools).
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar tools, especially Excel for organizing data, quantities, and calculations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with estimators, project managers, and field personnel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet bid deadlines, and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented construction environment.
- Relevant experience in commercial construction, earthwork, or site development; prior estimating or takeoff experience is preferred.
