Asphalt Equipment Operator
Responsibilities- Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in road, site or highway construction and paving.
- Follow all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations for safe work procedures and environment.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
- Conduct daily pre- and post-inspections with appropriate documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with other duties such as shoveling asphaltic materials and maintenance of asphalt finishing equipment, including adding or removing screed extensions.
- Follow directions of the Foreman regarding daily tasks and project/site expectations.
- Perform general labor duties as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The position requires physical activity including stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching and squatting. Regular lifting of up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Tools used include a shovel, asphalt rake, and asphalt lute. The workday involves significant walking and standing. Overtime is often required. Exposure to extreme temperatures and traffic is possible.
Some travel may be required to and from job sites. Duties are not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
- Previous related experience in the construction field and/or training.
