Lee Health Graduate Medical Education (GME) - Physician Fellow (PGY-4)

Lee Health GME offers an exciting fellowship opportunity for a Physician Fellow (PGY-4) focused on care for Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities (IDD). This one-year training program is designed for primary care physicians aiming to specialize in this field.

The fellow will develop competence in providing age and specialty-appropriate medical care through assessment, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up. Responsibilities span four practice areas: clinician, teacher, leader, and professional development. The fellow will collaborate with colleagues and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective, and patient-centered care, emphasizing quality improvement and positive patient outcomes in this vulnerable population.

Opportunities include developing leadership skills within the residency program and across Lee Health. The ideal candidate is passionate about caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities, capable of leading multidisciplinary teams, and possesses excellent communication skills with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Compassion, safety, and quality are prioritized in delivering patient care, with a focus on recognizing and preventing adverse events.

Training includes supervising family medicine residents in the GME Clinic and inpatient services, as well as in pediatric/adult developmental clinics.
