What You’ll Do
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patrons of all ages using library resources, technology, reference, and readers’ advisory.
  • Maintain and promote the adult collection through selection, weeding, and visually engaging displays.
  • Plan, present, and evaluate programs and activities for adults at the library and at outreach locations.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource, explaining library policies and procedures with professionalism and tact.
  • Support branch operations, including supervision of volunteers and paraprofessional staff, and occasionally overseeing the branch in the absence of the manager.
  • Participate in branch-specific and system-wide committees and professional development to stay current with emerging library trends and technology.
  • Build strong relationships with co-workers and the community, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.

To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with a team, and a commitment to providing inclusive service to a diverse community. You should be comfortable engaging with patrons of all ages, including children, teens, and those who speak languages other than English. Initiative, creativity, and flexibility are key—along with a willingness to grow and learn.

Spanish language skills are a plus.
