Job Description
An LPCA English Language Arts and Writing teacher is a Christ-centered educator who helps students become confident readers, thoughtful thinkers, and effective communicators. They create an engaging classroom where students strengthen their understanding of literature, grammar, vocabulary, and the writing process while learning to communicate with clarity, creativity, and purpose.
At LPCA, this teacher goes beyond simply teaching English standards. They build relationships, encourage discussion, challenge students to think deeply, and help each student develop their unique voice. Writing instruction includes brainstorming, organization, drafting, revising, editing, and presenting polished work across different styles and purposes.

An LPCA ELA and Writing teacher should:
- * Have a strong personal commitment to LPCA’s Christ-centered mission and values.
- * Make reading and writing engaging, meaningful, and approachable for students with varying abilities.
- * Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, literary analysis, and written communication.
- * Help students develop strong paragraph, essay, creative, and research-writing skills appropriate to their grade level.
- * Provide clear, encouraging feedback that helps students understand how to improve, rather than simply correcting mistakes.
- * Foster respectful discussion and teach students to think critically, articulate their ideas, and listen well to others.
- * Maintain high expectations while offering the grace, encouragement, and individualized support students need to grow.
- * Partner well with parents, recognizing that LPCA’s homeschool partnership model makes family communication and collaboration essential.
- * Model strong communication, professionalism, integrity, and a genuine love for students.
- * Look for opportunities to connect literature and writing to biblical truth, character development, and real-world application.
Qualifications
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle consistent with Biblical values.
- Agreement with the mission, vision, and Statement of Faith of Life Prep Christian Academy.
- Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (homeschool or classroom experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of middle and high school ELA.
- Ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively to diverse learners.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Joyful, flexible, and team-oriented attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Montessori, Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, or Orton-Gillingham methodologies.
- Experience in a multi-age classroom, hybrid program, or homeschool environment.
- Florida teaching certification or equivalent experience.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain.
