Responsibilities
ECS is hiring Building Code Compliance Inspectors for our Ft. Myers, Fl operations. In this role you will perform third-party commercial building code compliance inspections across building, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical scopes. You will complete field inspections, support plan review activities, document findings in clear inspection reports, and work directly with contractors, engineers, and architects to resolve code-related issues and keep projects moving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform third-party commercial inspections across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, architectural, structural, and fire safety scopes, based on applicable codes and permitted plans.
- Inspect foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction activities, including verification of installation quality and inspection readiness.
- Perform plan reviews and identify when permitted design documents may require revisions, then communicate recommendations to contractors, engineers, and architects.
- Coordinate with site teams on inspection scheduling, re‑inspections, and corrective actions to support project progress.
- Prepare and submit daily time and Inspection and Field Reports in accordance with ECS policy, including clear documentation of findings, photos, and follow‑up items.
- Maintain consistent inspection documentation and communication, including field notes, meeting notes when applicable, and client updates.
- Follow ECS safety procedures and policies on every site, including job hazard awareness and safe use of ladders and access equipment.
- Support business development by maintaining and developing client relationships, participating in marketing activities tied to construction inspection services, and helping generate repeat work.
Basic qualifications (must have)
- High school diploma or GED.
- Florida DBPR BN# required.
- 2+ years of code compliance inspection experience focused on commercial mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Strong knowledge of IBC Building Codes (ICC, NFPA, IAEI etc).
- Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and required insurance for local and regional travel.
- Ability to perform field work, including working at heights, using ladders, accessing roofs, and working in confined spaces as required by inspection assignments.
Preferred qualifications
- Multi‑trade inspection background beyond the required MEP scope.
- ICC certifications such as M2, P2, E2, and other specialty inspector credentials.
- Plans examiner background, threshold inspection exposure, or specialty inspection experience.
- OSHA training or equivalent construction safety training.
