Job Summary
The Permitting Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting entitlement applications, permits, and agreements that allow for the installation of telecommunication fixtures on poles, towers, fiber, and other infrastructure. Knowledge of municipal processes, codes, and ordinances, as well as frequent interactions with local governments and jurisdictions is a must. You will work directly with our designers and engineers to acquire the proper permits and licenses so our teams can begin work on schedule.

Duties/Responsibilities- Prepare and submit zoning and permitting applications. Follow applications through request process and respond to requests for additional information.
- Collaborate with design teams on permit drawings and construction documents related to required construction.
- Effectively communicate permit application status as requested.
- Serve as subject matter expert on state and local telecommunication municipal codes and related topics.
- Track and report costs of zoning and building permits to ensure reimbursable expenses are billed, collected, and reconciled.
- Communicate with teams to ensure building permits are closed out at the completion of projects.
- Manage all aspects of compliance with the conditions of approvals from municipalities for the installation, maintenance, and continued operation of company projects.
- Familiarity with requirements for zoning applications and supporting documentation.
- Familiarity with construction plans, standards, and terminology.
- Ability to stay organized with multiple projects in process at once.
- Ability to understand contracts, agreements, and title documentation.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
- An eye for detail; focus on error free work.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; must be able to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders as well as governmental agencies.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS and ArcMAP
- Minimum of two years of experience working in a municipality or telecommunications setting, preferably in a planning/zoning capacity.
- 2 years of AutoCAD Map experience.
- ArcGIS and ArcMAP experience preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to independently lift up to 15 pounds
