Insurance Assistance Representative

Overview

Completes and assists with insurance verification/certification and financial screening to secure maximum reimbursement for the Health System. Identify families who are uninsured or underinsured. Gathers financial information and screens patients for possible assistance. Assist them with the application process for Florida Kid Care and/or Medicaid as necessary. Assist families throughout the application process until enrolled. Work with departments throughout the health system to facilitate this process.

Works directly with DCF worker and Florida Kid Care to ensure applications are processed in a timely manner. Acts as a problem solver and serves as a resource for insurance and financial issues. Educate families about the financial responsibilities and application process. Serves as a community resource by providing information and addressing inquiries. Multi-task and detailed oriented with the ability to appropriately handle complexity and stress within the changing needs of the patients, families, insurance entities and Health System.

Complete appropriate follow-up and monthly reports on assigned accounts. Post all processes in EPIC for internal system departments understanding of the status process and/or approval. Follow-up with bill tracking to recover loss funds by reversing the self-pay/ charity accounts with Central Business office. Assists with training new employees, provides support to other Kid Care staff. Participates in community outreach as needed.

Other duties as required to provide excellent customer service skills to internal and external customers at all times.

Minimum to Midpoint Pay Rate: $20.00 - $23.50 / hour

  Degree/Diploma Obtained, Program of Study;

  High School Diploma or Equivalent;
  Required and/or Associate's;
  Preferred; 2 Years Customer Service;
