Summary

The Manager Pediatrics Quality plays a crucial role in enhancing quality and safety opportunities in our pediatric population. The role will collaborate with other quality leaders across the system in inpatient and ambulatory settings to have oversight and monitoring of pediatric quality metrics as part of regulatory requirements. This individual serves as a quality leader, serving at both Golisano Childrens hospital quality representative and a liaison to national quality organizations and regulatory agencies to improve patient care.

They will lead and oversee participation in the Solutions for Patient Safety Program (SPS) and other assigned quality initiatives associated with SPS and the ambulatory setting and will ensure alignment with the hospital's strategic plans and the overall goals of the health system. In that capacity, the manager will lead a steering committee under the framework of national quality organization requirements with the goal of improving overall quality and safety at the childrens hospital and will coordinate all childrens hospital quality leadership activities by assisting and supporting campaigns related to quality clinical standardization improvement efforts to ensure that all process improvement, marketing and regulatory requirements are being met.

Facilitates commitment to an organization-wide quality strategy. Coordinates and participates in the collection of data from medical records, logs, databases and error reporting systems as needed to support performance improvement and patient safety activities of the Hospital and the Practice. Coordinates the collection and sharing of any peer review opportunities with the patient safety department. Coordinate with the patient safety investigator to facilitate Failure Mode, Effects Analysis and Root Cause Analysis processes.

This position is responsible for organizing, compiling, documenting, and analyzing data to produce reports from which opportunities for quality and clinical improvement, intervention and educational activities can be identified. Educates staff in continuous quality improvement, processes, and tools. This individual will also display and communicate quality information such as quality scorecards and Golisano quality website management. As necessary, research and provide education on state, federal and other regulatory agencies standards.

Utilizes the quality methodology in training departments and multi-disciplinary teams. Works with Hospital and Medical staff at all levels of the organization to design and implement data collection methodologies, databases, action plans, and reporting strategies. Facilitates teams as necessary to achieve performance improvement within the organization. Participates as a member of Hospital and Medical Staff Committees, as assigned. This leader will report to the System Director for Quality and Clinical Standardization while having a direct collaborative line of communication with the Golisano Chief Nursing Operations Executive.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree required in a clinical field; RN, PA, PT or other. Master's degree preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years Healthcare experience Required. Experience in the use of manipulation of databases. Demonstrated experience and achievement in Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance, preferably in a healthcare provider setting. Quality methodology experience preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality and/or patient safety or formal healthcare leadership experience required.

Certification: Certification in Healthcare Quality, Lean, or Six Sigma preferred

Other: High-level skills in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Intermediate skill in the use of MS Access. Excellent communication and customer service skills required. Must be able to work independently and with a high level of confidentiality. Strong project management skill set. Strong verbal and written communication skills. communication and interpersonal skills as an influencer and change agent. Ability to handle several projects simultaneously.

Quantitative analytical skills are essential. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Organized with attention to detail. Ability to effectively provide coaching and feedback to teams at all levels. Ability to view opportunities for improvement through a system perspective. Demonstrated Presentation Skills. Demonstrated Project Management and Facilitation Skills. Some skills in researching evidence-based practices. Use of patient safety tools and training for serious safety events.
