We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter for a full-time, on-site role in Fort Myers, FL. In this role, the interpreter will provide high-quality interpretation services in American Sign Language (ASL) for various settings, including meetings, educational sessions, and community events. Day-to-day tasks include facilitating communication between Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and hearing parties, ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation, and adapting communication styles to match specific needs.
The candidate will also contribute to fostering an accessible and inclusive communication environment within the community.
- Proficiency in Sign Language and demonstrated expertise in interpreting and translation.
- Deep understanding and respect for Deaf culture and its nuances.
- Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills to facilitate effective interaction across diverse individuals and settings.
- Certification from a recognized interpreting program (e.g., RID certification) is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Experience in providing interpreting services in healthcare, education, legal, or community settings is a plus.
- Adaptability to work in dynamic environments and strong problem-solving skills.
