Logistics Specialist; Weekend Shift

Allyn International is currently looking for a full-time
Logistics Specialist - Weekend Shift – Hybrid to join our organization! Allyn is a privately-held professional services firm established in 1992. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, customer-centric services and solutions for the global marketplace. Our core products include transportation management, logistics sourcing, freight forwarding, supply chain consulting, tax management, and customs compliance. Our clients range from small local businesses to Fortune 500 firms in multiple industries.

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for managing logistics activities in a manner that shall meet business fulfillment requirements in parallel with the goal of transportation cost reduction. The position is responsible for collecting and communicating all necessary information related to upcoming and ongoing shipments, projects, and services, as well as providing logistics support, consulting, and obtaining best possible transportation rates.

Location: Fort Myers, FL

Work Schedule: 40 hours:
Thursday, Friday and Monday 08:00 AM- 5:00 PM in Office, Saturday & Sunday 08:00 AM- 5:00 PM Remote

Position Classification: Full-Time;
Salaried Exempt, Entry-Level

Physical Demands: Sitting, typing, walking, and talking on the phone.

• Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of relevant regulations and laws
• International logistics experience preferred: transportation, customs, warehousing, supply chain principles, geographical concerns, political nuances of economic zones

• Route cargo in accordance with legal and customer requirements including:
  • cargo characteristics
  • transport mode
  • equipment type
  • service level
  • least cost
  • transit time
  • loading and offloading requirements
• Coordinate the routing process including:
  • using contract rates and least cost whenever possible
  • obtaining spot quotes for lanes or loads that aren’t contracted
  • selecting carrier and tendering cargo in accordance with the process
  • providing carrier, shipper, broker, consignee all pertinent docs and information as required
• Issue resolution and shipment responsibility
• Training of new employees and clients, if needed
• Research and subject matter expertise in the field of logistics and transportation
• Actively use either Allyn’s ALA software or use the software chosen per the client
• Accurately issue shipping documentation such as certificates of origin, customs invoices, packing lists, and certificates of insurance
• Reliably track and expedite progress of specialized shipments
• Capture all costs associated with a shipment including:
  • freight cost
  • detention charges
  • storage charges if applicable
  • accessorials
  • surcharges
  • demurrage
  • other charges
• Actively look for and capture savings opportunities and added value opportunities when possible
