Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium (CNCP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to “Inspiring People to Connect with Nature.” CNCP serves the Southwest Florida community and visiting guests through environmental education, wildlife care, astronomy programs, and stewardship of the natural environment.

We are seeking a reliable, detail‑oriented associate to support the cleanliness, safety, and general upkeep of our buildings and grounds. This position focuses primarily on custodial and janitorial duties, with occasional assistance on light repairs and facility projects around the center.

• Perform routine custodial and janitorial cleaning of buildings, restrooms, offices, classrooms, and public spaces.
• Ensure facilities remain clean, safe, and welcoming for staff, volunteers, and visitors.
• Empty trash and recycling, restock supplies, and maintain cleaning equipment.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks and minor repairs as needed (e.g., basic fixes, painting touch‑ups, simple hardware repairs).
• Help with general upkeep of grounds and outdoor areas when needed.
• Identify maintenance or safety issues and report them to supervisory staff.
• Support facility setup and cleanup for programs, events, and special activities.
• Use hand tools and basic equipment safely and responsibly.
• Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support daily operations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission of CNCP.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial, janitorial, or facilities cleaning experience a plus.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and general maintenance tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good time management and reliability.
• Willingness to learn and assist with a variety of facility‑related tasks.
• Enjoy working in a nature‑based, nonprofit environment.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and performing physical tasks.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
• Comfortable using ladders and basic cleaning or maintenance equipment.

• Part‑time hours (schedule may vary based on facility needs).
• Some flexibility required for events or special projects.
