The Utility Operator must be able to operate multiple pieces of equipment depending on particular requirements. The Utility Operator interfaces, on a daily basis, with the rest of the operations in this location. This role requires performing work activities correctly, accurately, and timely, as every activity is crucial for the overall operation.
Job Responsibilities- Operate a loader, excavator, haul truck, grader, bulldozer, skid steer, and water truck.
- Load tractor trailers and dump trucks.
- Keep the facility clean and organized.
- Build and strip forms.
- Mix and pour concrete and castables.
- Perform or assist with minor maintenance and repairs.
- Assist with clean‑up before and after maintenance work.
- Communicate with and cooperate with truckers and customers.
- Record downtime and actions taken.
- Fill up fuel and clean the loader.
- Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA/MSHA rules, and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds.
- Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
- High school preferred.
- Bilingual is a plus.
- Be able to read, write, and speak English.
- Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors.
- Must wear protective equipment while at the location.
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree.
- Heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally or 50 pounds frequently, or 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Must regularly talk and hear to communicate with employees/visitors and operate safely around heavy equipment.
- Must perform all job functions that include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling controls.
- Must pass a physical exam that includes a back x‑ray, hearing test, and drug/alcohol screen.
