Working Title:

The Bureau of Field Operations is responsible for the survey and certification process of health care facilities across the State of Florida. These surveys ensure that all state licensed, and federally certified health care facilities meet established state and/or federal requirements and patients and residents receive safe, quality health care. The team also ensures the safety of residents in emergencies such as natural disasters.

Work You Will Do:
  • Conduct inspections utilizing an established survey process.
  • Evaluate health care facilities for state licensure and federal certification requirements for participation under Medicare/Medicaid.
  • Document findings and complete written reports of survey findings.
  • Perform surveys individually, as part of a team, or as a team leader.
  • Complete the Surveyor Minimum Qualifications Test within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Work as required on weekends, holidays, emergencies, and during disasters, which may involve travel to other counties.
  • Be available before and after normal work hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Assist with disaster responses, including work before, during, and beyond normal hours.
Responsibilities and Skills:
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Knowledge of state licensure and federal certification survey requirements.
  • Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing data.
  • Ability to develop and implement monitoring programs.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, including oral communication, attentive listening, interview procedures, team dynamics, and performance evaluations.
  • Ability to use microcomputer equipment and software to manage data required for licensure and certification functions.
  • Ability to travel with or without accommodations.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
Minimum Qualifications Requirements:

Licensure as a registered professional nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 and at least two years of professional nursing experience.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements:

Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in accordance with Florida Statute 464 or eligibility to practice nursing under Florida Administrative Code 64B9-3.

Background Screening:

All applicants must successfully complete a State and National criminal history check before employment, and may be required to undergo additional screening as mandated by Florida law. Background screening results must be reviewed and approved by the Agency before employment can begin.
