Vascular Surgery Advanced Practice Provider

Purpose

In collaboration with supervising physicians, provides for the expansion of individualized healthcare services by diagnosing and treating vascular conditions. Responsibility for outpatient, pre‑operative, and post‑operative management of vascular surgery patients.

• Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
• Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic studies; performs health assessments and screening.
• Identifies normal or abnormal health characteristics, develops a plan of care, and initiates appropriate interventions; responds promptly to patient questions or issues triaged by clinical staff and assists with emergencies as needed.
• Provides direct treatment and management of conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources, including administering medications according to formulary protocols or upon physician approval, and ensures prescriptions are transmitted orally or in writing in the patient record.
• Counsels and educates patients and their families or caregivers concerning health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
• Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specialty standards and network policies.
• Participates in orientation and education of staff and students.
• Collaborates with the interprofessional team to manage and coordinate patient care for both in‑patient and out‑patient treatment.
• Fosters identification and implementation of innovative solutions to improve patient care or department operations.
• Integrates and contributes to professional practice standards, policies, procedures, protocols, and leads improvements in patient safety–related processes.
• Performs other related functions as assigned.

• Master’s degree, Licensed Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with Prescriptive Authority, credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing or the Texas Medical Board.
• Experience in caring for adults with vascular disease preferred.
• Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast‑paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
• Capacity to work well with physicians and other care providers as part of a multi‑disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
• Capacity to work with trainees, including medical students and surgical residents.
• Highly proficient in hospital and clinic EMR documentation and Microsoft Office applications.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

• 2+ years of experience in vascular surgical first assisting and patient management.
• Ability to work efficiently and flexibly in a fast‑paced environment with minimal guidance.
• Ability to address individuals and information with a high degree of sensitivity and confidentiality in various situations.
• Capacity to work well with supervising and consulting physicians and other care providers as part of a multi‑disciplinary healthcare delivery team.
• An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

$125,000+ depending on qualifications
