Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Functions as staff LPN utilizing the nursing process with performing comprehensive psychiatric/mental health assessments. Evaluates mental status and refers clients to other treatment providers when necessary.

• Perform comprehensive psychiatric/mental health assessments and evaluate mental status.
• Refer clients to other treatment providers when necessary.
• Monitor changes in health status, including vital signs, weights, nutritional status, and disease states.
• Administer and monitor medications as ordered, monitoring effectiveness, side effects, and compliance.
• Perform assessments for side effects/EPS.
• Provide phone triage and address medication issues with consumers when necessary.
• Provide proper education and guidance as necessary.
• Assist patients with accessing medications, including obtaining prior authorizations and accessing prescription assistance programs.
• Provide healthcare education to clients, families, or staff as assigned.
• Provide CLIA Waived laboratory testing as ordered and maintain CLIA waived laboratory environment, including quality control testing and documentation.
• Monitor received laboratory values and report abnormal values as required.
• Provide employee health services as directed, including annual influenza vaccination clinics and staff TB skin testing.
• Work in collaboration with other members of the treatment team and external health care providers as necessary.
• Supervise Certified Medical Assistants and delegate tasks in accordance with the Tennessee Nurse Practice Act and other applicable regulations.
• Complete clinical documentation within organizational policy standards.
• Maintain all mandatory trainings up to date.
• Provide assigned residential nursing services as directed.

Must have the ability to work cooperatively with all staff and physicians and function as a valuable member of the treatment team.

• Education Level: Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

  Minimum of six months to one year of psychiatric or equivalent mental health nursing experience is preferred.
