Job Description
The Fort Myers, FL Exterior Exposure Test Fence is seeking an R&D Technician II to support General Industrial (GI) and Coil and Extrusion exterior UV exposure testing programs. This role provides hands‑on technical support for exposure testing activities that enable new product development and maintain business across both organizations.
The position is responsible for executing sample intake and preparation, outdoor exposure placement, scheduled interim and final evaluations, data documentation, reporting, and coordination with internal technical stakeholders. The technician will follow established ASTM methods, SOPs, and laboratory quality systems to ensure accurate, timely, and traceable exposure data generation in support of GI and Coil and Extrusion project needs.
This role is intended to provide shared capacity across both organizations, with workload and priorities aligned to support GI and Coil and Extrusion exposure testing demand.
Job duties include contact with other employees and access to confidential and proprietary information and/or other items of value. Such access may be supervised or unsupervised. Responsibilities- Comply with ISO 17025 practices and how they apply to the Exterior Exposure Test Fence group with respect to training, documentation, audits, testing protocols, and data reporting.
- Receive, log, and prepare GI and Coil and Extrusion panels for exterior exposure testing.
- Assemble and execute exposure test series in accordance with defined project and program requirements.
- Perform scheduled interim and final exposure evaluations following applicable ASTM standards.
- Conduct visual, physical, and measurement‑based assessments as required by test protocols.
- Document evaluation results accurately and completely within approved data management systems.
- Support preparation of evaluation summaries and reports for GI, Coil and Extrusion, Test and Certification, and R&D stakeholders.
- Maintain proper panel identification, traceability, and organization throughout the exposure lifecycle.
- Coordinate evaluation timing and deliverables to support project schedules and business priorities across both organizations.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality management systems, safety standards, and documentation requirements.
- Effectively communicate status, results, and issues to internal technical teams.
- Utilize Microsoft Office and internal systems to capture data, track work, and support reporting.
- Independently manage assigned work to meet timeline, quality, and throughput expectations.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve exposure testing efficiency, cycle time, and data reliability.
- Support general lab housekeeping and safety practices to maintain a clean, compliant, and well‑organized work environment.
- Legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future (e.g., OPT, CPT, H1B, EB-1, etc.).
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Basic ability to analyze data and accurately document results.
- Minimum 6 months lab experience.
- Experience working in a laboratory or testing environment.
- Familiarity with ASTM test methods or exterior exposure testing programs.
- Experience supporting R&D, GI, or Coil and Extrusion testing workflows.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Travel Requirements: 10%
