Supplier Quality Specialist

Job Description

The Supplier Quality Specialist programs and operates PCDMIS CMM equipment and leads supplier quality activities to ensure aviation components meet stringent regulatory and organizational standards. This role coordinates closely with suppliers, conducts audits, and drives continuous improvement in quality systems, processes, and documentation to support reliable, compliant production.

Responsibilities
  • Program and operate PCDMIS CMM machines at an advanced level to support precise inspection and measurement of aviation components.
  • Coordinate with aviation suppliers to verify that products and processes meet defined quality standards and organizational requirements.
  • Perform regular supplier audits to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory standards and internal quality systems.
  • Participate in the strategic development and implementation of quality control plans for supplier–provided products and processes.
  • Recommend and support structural quality and process improvements to enhance overall supplier performance and product reliability.
  • Identify technical problems related to supplier quality and lead the implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records, certifications, and databases to ensure full traceability and compliance.
  • Manage process controls by establishing and maintaining schedules for reviewing supplier performance and quality metrics.
  • Review aviation supplier Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) submissions and create internal PPAP documentation as needed.
  • Perform First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to validate new or modified parts and ensure they meet engineering and regulatory requirements.
  • Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methodologies to investigate nonconformances and prevent recurrence.
  • Interpret GD&T manufacturing drawings to ensure dimensional and geometric requirements are clearly understood and verified.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to address welding, NDT, and machining–related quality issues and requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of PFMEA and Measurement System Analysis documentation to support robust quality planning.
  • Prepare and deliver clear progress reports and findings to leadership and relevant departments to support informed decision-making.
Essential Skills
  • Advanced programming experience with PCDMIS CMM machines.
  • At least 5 years of experience in CMM programming.
  • Proficiency in quality control, quality assurance, and quality inspection practices within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to interpret and work from GD&T manufacturing drawings.
  • Hands‑on experience with inspection tools such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Competence in conducting visual inspections and performing detailed quality checks.
  • Experience creating and reviewing CMM programs and operating CMM machines for precision measurements.
  • Knowledge and practical application of the AS9100 standard in an aviation or aerospace context.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR).
  • Strong understanding of Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) analysis and problem‑solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of welding requirements, non‑destructive testing (NDT), and machining techniques as they relate to quality.
  • Experience with PFMEA to identify and mitigate potential failure modes in supplier processes.
  • Experience with Measurement System Analysis to evaluate and improve measurement reliability.
  • Understanding of supplier inspection process control and related quality methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to diagnose complex quality issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Effective communication skills to prepare reports and present findings to leadership and cross‑functional teams.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and inspection activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team player.
