Essential Employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.
Plant Operator Requirements- Plant Operator A – Possess an active Florida Water Class "A" license.
- Plant Operator B – Possess an active Florida Water Class "B" license.
- Plant Operator C – Possess an active Florida Water Class "C" license.
- Collect samples and perform required analysis.
- Record data and analytical results.
- Monitor biological operation and make changes as often as conditions warrant.
- Perform housekeeping duties, as needed.
- Maintain supply inventories.
- Conduct minor maintenance, as needed.
- Continue education both for licensing and to remain current.
- Required to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assigned tasks.
- This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledgeable in plant safety precautions, and occupational hazards associated with the treatment operations.
- Knowledgeable in state and federal operating permits and regulations.
- Knowledgeable in understanding math pertaining to the treatment process. (basic math) Skill in gathering and maintaining accurate records
- Skill in collecting and testing samples
- Skill in troubleshooting of instrumentation, field equipment, and plant operational issues
- Skill in time management, prioritization and organization
- Ability to use and navigate SCADA systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
- Ability to learn standard operating procedures for the plant
- Ability to be adaptable to performing under frequent deadlines and or in response to emergencies
- Ability to apply sound judgment and interpretation based on acquired knowledge in circumstances where limited standardization exists.
- Ability to form and implement solutions in coordination with other team members
- Ability to log and record complete and accurate records into computer system, and daily log sheets.
- Ability to perform strenuous work in varying and adverse weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of vibration.
- Ability to effectively operate necessary equipment, including but not limited to vehicle, telephone, radio, cell phone, digital camera, computer, printer, copier, facsimile machine and other standard office equipment.
- Ability to relate and respond to people beyond giving and receiving instructions, to include applying consistent courtesy and tact in considerable public contact and/or confrontational situations which is not limited to co-workers, customers, and outside vendors.
- High School diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
- Possess an active Florida Water license.
