PositionFlex Security Officer
Flex Officers help cover call-outs, vacations, special events, and surge needs. This role requires open availability and an on-call mindset. Flex Officers must be able to report to different Ballast Security locations as needed and may be asked to work irregular, last-minute, or emergency shifts with only a few hours’ notice.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol and monitor assigned locations on foot or in a vehicle
- Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may present security concerns
- Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, or incidents
- Enforce site rules, procedures, and access protocols
- Permit authorized individuals onto the property and monitor entrances/exits
- Observe departing personnel to prevent unauthorized removal of property
- Assist employees, visitors, and customers professionally and courteously
- Prepare clear written reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activity
- Maintain logs and documentation as required by the site
- Make emergency notifications according to post instructions
- Report to short-notice assignments as needed
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must have a valid Florida Class D Security License
- Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform patrols
- Must be available on-call and able to report to shifts with little to no advance notice
- Flexible availability for days, nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to operate radio/telephone equipment and communicate clearly
- Must pass background check and drug screening
- Strong observation skills and attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Professional, clean appearance and strong customer-service mindset
- Ability to work independently and adapt to changing assignments
- Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Experience with CCTV or alarm monitoring
- Ability to write detailed incident reports
- Experience working in multiple locations or performing flex/rover-style duties
