Technician I Utility Locator

Job Title

Lee County Utilities (LCU) is looking for careful, safety-focused team members to help protect our community's underground utility systems.

What You Will Do

• Locate water lines (1" to 36"), including valves, fire hydrants, meter boxes, and water service lines.
• Locate wastewater lines (4" to 30"), including sewer laterals, force mains, manholes, and valves.
• Locate reclaimed water lines (3" to 12"), including valves, meters, and service lines.
• Locate electric, fiber optic, and chemical lines as needed.
• Use hand tools and electronic locating equipment safely and correctly.
• Follow proper safety procedures when working around underground utilities.
• Keep accurate records of completed locates, markings, and field conditions.

What We're Looking For

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to:
• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of experience in utility locating or similar work. Related experience may include:
• Water, sewer, or reclaimed water line work
• Underground utility construction
• Utility mapping or field operations
• Reading utility drawings, blueprints, or as-built plans
• Field testing or inspection work
• Maintenance or repair of water or wastewater systems
• Ability to use locating equipment and understand the signals.
• Ability to read utility maps, construction plans, and as-built drawings.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.

Licensing Requirements

• Valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
