Lee County Utilities is looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Technician to join our team.

In this critical role, you’ll help keep the electrical systems that power our water and wastewater treatment plants running safely, reliably, and efficiently. Your work directly supports public health, environmental protection, and the essential services our community depends on every day.

What You Will Do:
  • Perform journeyman-level electrical maintenance, repairs, and installations
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and systems, identify root causes, and implement safe, effective corrections
  • Install and wire new electrical equipment from start to finish
  • Inspect, test, and maintain motors, control panels, switch gear, pumps, and related electrical components
  • Review and interpret engineering plans, blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Use electrical test equipment, power tools, and diagnostic instruments safely and effectively
  • Work independently in the field and alongside operators, mechanics, engineers, and supervisors
  • Maintain detailed records, documentation, and reports
  • Follow national and local electrical codes and department safety practices
  • Be available for varying hours, on‑call rotations, and emergency response
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)
  • Four or more years of related electrical experience, preferably in industrial or utility environments
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Working knowledge of national and local electrical codes
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, blueprints, and control schematics
  • Experience using test equipment and hand/power tools
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in water or wastewater treatment facilities
  • Industrial electrical experience with motors, switch gear, variable frequency drives, motor control centers and SCADA systems
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical issues with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of electrical systems used in treatment plants or similar industrial facilities

  • Advanced electrical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to make sound, independent decisions in the field
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with large equipment
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and electrical schematics
  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and high‑quality workmanship
  • Clear communication skills and strong teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work outdoors, in confined spaces, and around equipment, machinery, and treatment processes

Work Schedule
  • Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
  • On‑call rotations required
